To Whom It May Concern,
The possibility of the further escalation between the NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) and Russia has significantly increased because of the possibility of the joining of Sweden and Finland to NATO, Which finally reached a deal to admit these countries after resolving the concerns of holdout Turkey. Notably, a few weeks earlier, Sweden and Finland applied for NATO membership. Though their applications received immediate objections from Turkey, a member of NATO, because of its security concerns, the latter finally withdrew its objection in a trilateral meeting held in Madrid on June 28, paving the way for joining these countries in the largest military alliance in the world. Consequently, these countries are now about to join NATO.
Probably, the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine forced these countries to apply for the NATO member for security concerns. But it is expected that Russia is less likely to take the move easily. By this time, Russia has already told about the potential action if NATO military lands in Sweden and Finland, raising a cause of concern in Eastern Europe. Given that these countries turn out to be NATO members, there will be no barrier to establishing military bases of the alliance in these countries. It is pertinent to note that one of the main reasons for Russia to militarily intervene in Ukraine was its possibility of joining NATO. Though there is a low possibility of the involvement of Russia in any large scale war at this moment because of the ongoing war in Ukraine and its associated costs, economic and others, the possibility of such a war cannot be discarded altogether.
No doubt, the Russia-Ukraine war already caused huge problems in economic and other terms in many countries around the world. If any larger conflicts happen between the West and Russia, the impacts can easily be assumed. It is, thus, desired that further larger war be avoided between Russia and the West not only for the benefit of these two parties but also for the entire world. Thus, doors need to be remained open for talks between the parties.
