Queen Elizabeth II, the Queen of the United Kingdom and fourteen Commonwealth countries including Canada, Australia and New Zealand, passed away at Balmoral Castle in Scotland yesterday at the age of ninety six. The beloved Queen, also a benevolent sovereign, has left behind her children (including King Charles III), grandchildren, many relatives, innumerable well-wishers around the world and many more. Her death is a great sadness to the United Kingdom and the world.
She took the reign of the British Throne as Queen Elizabeth II in 1952 at the age of 26 and reigned for more than 70 years until her death on September 8, 2022. She was the head of the Commonwealth. She has seen many ups and downs in Britain and the world throughout her life including political reforms and developments in the United Kingdom, the end of British imperialism, the Cold war and the withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union. Though she was born in Britain, the great Queen had a very caring mind for people around the world. She played very significant roles not only in the development of the United Kingdom but also in the improvement of the lives of many across countries.
No doubt, the death of the Queen is an enormous and irreparable loss not only for the United Kingdom and all other Commonwealth countries but also for the entire world. Dhaka Opinion Magazine is deeply shocked by the death of the Queen. On behalf of Dhaka Opinion Magazine, I offer deepest condolences to the bereaved Royal family of the departed soul.
